New photos part fifty

Hello everyone! Today I'm pleased to add the FIFTIETH posting of 'new' photos of Convairs. :) There are still many to go before the DC-9's come along! Alas, today's posting is of two different shots of N4634S...enjoy!

Ok I have two questions. I swear all the Convairs had black noses when did they are switch over to the grey? When did Republic finally paint the final NC colored Convair into its colors? I know I still saw one in 1982 with NC stripes.

The 580 started off with the gray radomes. The company tryed many things to maintain the radomes, but they didn't last long on the a/c. The black came about mostly due to fact the shop couldn't keep up with the demand when they had to paint them gray, also the black seem to last longer. The second question, wow, I think the old NCA colors lasted until the company started painting the planes in the new wolfman colors. 1983 84 my guess.

WOW!!!! Crazy the NC colors lasted well into the 80's. I remember always betting myself while waiting at the gate if I would get a Republic Convair or a North Central colors after the merger. One thing I know for sure is I never saw a Convair in Wolf colors. Unless you conunt the NWA Convairs that were in hybrid colors.

Thank you for the info Anonymous.
