Original NCA '9' now in Delta colors

Recently, my good friends Dave DeBace and Terry Love forwarded me photos of the first of MANY DC-9's that will be painted in Delta colors from the NWA fleet. Of interest in this particular aircraft is the tail number; N776NC. Any meaning to anyone??? :) Take care and enjoy...

N776NC was the second to last DC-9-51 delivered to North Central (N777NC was the last). The follow-on "NCs" were ordered by NCA, but delivered to the new Republic Airlines. Lots of different paint jobs for this airplane....and it still keeps on flying!!

Peder,

Well, now you know this is exciting to me. Since Delta is my second favorite airline, next to North Central of all time, this is synchronicity with me. Wow! It blows my mind to see the widget and the NC on the same ship.

It just ain't right!!! That tail needs Herman back on it. I think its time for a retrojet. C'mon Delta help a brother out. Put Herman back on the tail where he belongs.

After 10 years as a Delta mechanic and growing up the son of North Central veteran I love it. I am with blugoose. I would love to see one in retro North Central, especially one of the original NC DC-9s.

I recently flew a Delta flight from MKE to MSP. Our airplane was N771NC, resplendent in its new Delta colors. It was nice to ride on "Herman" again, even if incognito. And better still, we parked right next to N760NC when we got to MSP!! I was lovin' it!!
